  • Between wave and water… is a site-specific interdisciplinary ritual performance walk that reclaims and contests the history of an Enslaved African Burial Ground in Hunts Point, Bronx. Audiences embark on both a literal and metaphorical journey as they navigate the industrial streets of Hunts Point. A contemporary Bronx Trickster character leads the way, colliding our present realities with the pervasive yet irretrievable past. Unknowingly guided by fragments of ancestral memory, Trickster tells “lies,” invented mythologies that expose and disrupt dominant narratives, and refuse the erasure of marginalized bodies and our cultural legacies. Dancers, grounded in a hybrid of contemporary modern dance and dances of the African diaspora, at times echo and amplify Trickster’s double-talk and duplicity, and other times translate unspeakable memories into movement. Storytelling, song, and dance activate public spaces, and transform them into sites of reflection, remembrance, and resistance.

  • I spearheaded creative consulting and creative production for Althea’s final performances, as well as an activation at Bronx Arts Spaced entitled Listening with Drake Park. Collaborated with Alethea x The Metropolitan Museum of Art to produce site-specific performances across New York.

  • Alethea Pace is a Bronx-based multidisciplinary artist and a 2023-2025 Civic Practice Partnership Artist in Residence at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
